Some news about my hubby! Apparently the release date I wrote about for his upcoming album, supposedly titled Born and Raised, was way off. I figured, it’s September and it was supposed to be out in October. If that were the case, he would’ve had a single on the radio and would be promoting that shit hard. So…….. yeah, unfortunately no album next month.
Good news is, we got SOME official news about the album! His management says that they’re still working on it. But judging by John’s lack of online presence (which stealz his good thought nuggets and lyrics), I’m guessing he’s busy in the studio.
He also did an interview for the I Heart Radio music festival (has that happened yet?) and talked about how he’s approaching writing music for his new album. Basically he doesn’t give a shit what we think anymore. I mean, he said it a lot nicer than that. But that’s essentially what he said.
I think it’s a good thing. He seriously over-thinks everything he does/says/writes/etc. It’s like he’s insecure. I like him best when he’s himself. I’m sure we’ll all love whatever it is that he releases because he’s got so much talent built up in that body that it’s impossible for him to make something bad (unless Kanye West is involved). Here’s a short clip of the interview:
Vodpod videos no longer available.
His management also left us with a teaser for some upcoming project.Maybe he’ll rekindle his old television show? Maybe? Did you know John had a short-lived television show? Enjoy that video below. It’s worth it, TRUST.
John Mayer never f*cking blogs, and when he does it’s dumb stuff like this picture of Johnny Depp wearing a cape. (haha……….get it?……….John Mayer looks like Johnny Depp……I hope you see what I did there……no?….OK…..)
“I realized about a year ago that I couldn’t have a complete thought anymore, and I was a tweetaholic,” John said while speaking with students at a clinic at the Berklee College of Music.
“I had four million Twitter followers, and I was always writing on it,” he added (via Rolling Stone). “And I stopped using Twitter as an outlet and I started using Twitter as the instrument to riff on, and it started to make my mind smaller and smaller and smaller. And I couldn’t write a song.”
I guess I can support him not being on Twitter so his songs are better. His music has lacked the really hard-hitting lyrics. I can think of 100 lines from his first two albums that really struck a chord with me, but the only line in Battle Studies that I can think of immediately is, “I want you so bad I’ll go back on the thing I believe.”
This news is very exciting. Not surprisingly, though. I mean, YEAH. John Mayer’s album will obviously be great. All of his albums are great. I’m just excited that he’s actively working on it and maybe he’ll let us in on a few tracks. Hope so.
John, if you ever read this, please go back to making your love-related songs, like “3×5” “Split Screen Sadness” and “Great Indoors.” They were lyrical masterpieces that I still enjoy listening to on repeat. You don’t have to make the whole album full of those, but maybe just a few for us ladies? Thanks, boo boo.
Well, that’s a lie. but he’s the only man whose bones I’d jump that has a ponytail. Seriously though…. SWOON. He was photographed leaving the gym. And I’d also like to point out I spot a few gray hairs, no? Maybe I’m crazy, though.
John Mayer debuted this new song, “Love is the Verb,” at a charity event in NYC recently. I love it! Well, of course I love it. But I especially love this one. I’m so glad to hear him singing love songs again. His last 2 albums haven’t been very lovey-dovey which makes me sad because he has such a way with words, and us ladies love love songs.
John debuted this song, “Queen of California,” at the Tiger Jam in April. It’s folky/countryish? I’m not sure what I think about it. I don’t dislike it, but I don’t know if I like it yet. His songs always grow on me so maybe I’ll listen to it some more.
Overall still very very excited for his album Born and Raised, which is coming out in October (supposedly).

SO EXCITING. During his May 16th “In Support Of Our Troops” benefit, John announced that his next album will be titled “Born and Raised” (the title of one of his recently debuted singles) and is set to be released sometime in October 2011.
Here’s a live, rough performance of the song, “Born and Raised.” I can’t wait for a studio version to come out. Very Bluesy. Very soothing. Very John.
